Advanced Nd:YAG Laser Technology with Clarity II

Smooth, long-lasting results with medically guided laser hair removal at Skinfinity Aesthetics.
We use the Clarity II Nd:YAG laser, a gold-standard technology designed to safely and effectively treat unwanted hair on all skin tones, including darker skin types.

What Is Laser Treatment for Hair Removal?

Laser treatment for hair removal is a non-invasive procedure that reduces unwanted hair by sending concentrated light energy into the hair follicle. The pigment in the hair absorbs that energy, which heats and damages the follicle so it produces less hair over time.

Because only hairs in the active growth phase respond to the laser, a series of sessions is needed. With each treatment, regrowth becomes finer, lighter, and slower, and most patients see long-term hair reduction after completing a full course.

At Skinfinity Aesthetics, every laser hair removal treatment is performed with Clarity II Nd:YAG laser technology after a consultation that looks at your skin type, hair colour and medical history.

Why We Use Clarity II Nd:YAG Laser

Clarity II Nd:YAG is an advanced medical-grade laser designed to:

Safely treat all skin tones, including deeper skin types

Penetrate deeper to target stubborn hair follicles

Reduce the risk of burns, pigmentation, or irritation

Deliver consistent results with fewer side effects

This technology is a significant upgrade from traditional IPL systems and offers greater precision, safety, and effectiveness.

Many lower-cost clinics use IPL (intense pulsed light), which is not a true laser. IPL spreads light across a broad range of wavelengths and is less suited to darker skin. The Nd:YAG wavelength penetrates deeper and bypasses much of the pigment in the skin surface, which is why it is a preferred option for South Asian, Middle Eastern, Black and Latin skin tones.

Areas We Treat

Laser hair removal can be performed on almost any area of the body, including:

How Laser Hair Removal Works

  1. Consultation and patch test. We assess your skin tone, hair type, medications and treatment goals, then test the laser on a small area.
  2. Preparation. You shave the area 24 hours before your appointment. We clean the skin and set the laser for your skin and hair type.
  3. Treatment. The laser hand piece passes over the area with built-in cooling. Most people describe a warm snapping feeling.
  4. Shedding. Over the following 1 to 3 weeks, treated hairs loosen and fall out.
  5. Repeat sessions. Sessions are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, depending on the body area, to target hairs as they move into the growth phase.

What Makes Laser Hair Removal at Skinfinity Aesthetics Different

We prioritize safety, comfort, and results, ensuring every treatment is tailored—not rushed.

What to Expect During Treatment

Before and After Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment

Before your session

  • Shave the treatment area 24 hours before.
  • Avoid waxing, plucking or threading for 4 weeks beforehand, because the laser needs the hair root in place.
  • Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for 2 weeks.
  • Let us know about any new medications, especially ones that increase light sensitivity.

After your session

  • Mild redness or bumps are normal and usually settle within a few hours to a day.
  • Use SPF 30+ on treated areas and avoid tanning for 2 weeks.
  • Skip hot tubs, saunas and intense workouts for 24 to 48 hours.
  • Do not pluck or wax between sessions. Shaving is fine.

Who Laser Hair Removal Is Not Suitable For

Laser treatment may need to be postponed or avoided if you:

  • are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • have an active skin infection, open wound or sunburn in the treatment area
  • have recently used isotretinoin (Accutane) or other photosensitizing medications
  • have a history of keloid scarring
  • have very light blonde, grey, white or red hair, because there is little pigment for the laser to target

Your consultation covers all of this before any treatment is booked.

Laser Hair Removal FAQs

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Hair grows in natural cycles, which is why multiple laser hair removal sessions are typically required to achieve optimal results. Most patients need approximately 6–8 treatments spaced several weeks apart to effectively target hair during its active growth phase. Results tend to improve progressively with each session, and occasional maintenance treatments may be recommended annually to help maintain long-term smoothness.

Is Laser Hair Removal Safe?

When performed using medical-grade technology and proper protocols, laser hair removal is considered safe and effective. The Clarity II Nd:YAG laser is FDA-cleared and clinically tested, and it is designed to minimize many of the risks commonly associated with older laser and IPL devices. A thorough consultation is required prior to treatment to assess your skin type, hair characteristics, and overall suitability, ensuring a safe and personalized approach.

Is Nd:YAG better than IPL?

Yes. Nd:YAG lasers penetrate deeper and are safer for a wider range of skin tones compared to IPL.

Can laser hair removal work on dark skin?

Yes. Nd:YAG technology is specifically suited for darker skin tones.

Is the treatment permanent?

Laser hair removal provides long-term hair reduction. Some hair may regrow over time, but it is typically finer and lighter.

Do I need to shave before treatment?

Yes. Shaving 24 hours before treatment is recommended.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most patients describe a quick snapping or warm sensation, similar to a rubber band. The Clarity II has built-in cooling to keep treatment comfortable, and sensitive areas like the bikini line are usually the most noticeable.

How long does each session take?

Small areas like the upper lip or underarms take about 15 minutes. Larger areas like full legs or back take 45 to 60 minutes.

When will I see results?

Most patients notice less regrowth after 2 to 3 sessions. The full result shows after completing the recommended course, usually 6 to 8 sessions.

Is laser hair removal safe for South Asian and darker skin tones?

Yes, when the right laser is used. Nd:YAG technology is designed for darker skin types. Read our full guide: What is the safest laser hair removal for dark skin?
